I am an Associate Professor (Senior Lecturer) in Cyber Security in Computer Science at Swansea University. Prior to this, I was Assistant Professor (Lecturer) at University of Bristol, and a Postdoctoral researcher at Advanced Digital Sciences Center (ADSC)- (University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC)). I was a President Graduate Fellow in the Information Systems Technology and Design pillar at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) (Established in collaboration with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)). I was part of iTrust, centre for research in cyber security, where I have been involving in multiple Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) security projects, and a visiting researcher in the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) and associated with CyLab and ABLE.

Research Overview

My research focuses on cyber resilience for Cyber-Physical Artificial Intelligence (CPAI)—the development of AI-enabled cyber-physical systems (CPS) that are secure, resilient, and trustworthy. I study cyber resilience of CPAI including Energy and Utilities, Transportation and Logistics (maritime, aviation and land transport), Emergency Services, manufacturing and robotics. CPAI systems are driven by advanced AI models embedded within integrated systems. These systems combine cyber-elements—including AI, and secure communication networks—to orchestrate intelligent sensors and adaptive actuators, enabling autonomous decision-making and safe physical interaction. The integration of AI, software, communication, and computing in the CPAI increases vulnerability to cyber attacks, especially as many systems rely on legacy components not designed for security or resilience.

My research takes a multidisciplinary approach to tackle the security issues associated with CPAI and excelled in applying cyber security, formal methods, and AI fundamentals for advancing CPAI resilience for greater impacts.
